Documenting stories
I’m Bea — a photographer who has always been drawn to documenting real stories. As a former journalist, I’ve told many stories through the written word and I know images are essential to telling the whole story.
My love for photography started early. I was six when I first fell in love with taking pictures, and by eight I had my very first camera: a pink plastic 100 mm that went everywhere with me. Since then, I’ve worked my way through a Polaroid Joycam, a Canon Sure Shot 35 mm, a Nikon Coolpix (my first digital), a Fuji Finepix and a handful of others before landing on my current camera, a Canon SL3.
No matter the gear, one thing has stayed the same: I photograph anything and everything. I’ve always believed that everyday moments are worth documenting — on my last trip alone, I took 2,800 photos simply because I didn’t want to miss a thing. Photography feels like a natural extension of my journalism roots. I’m still telling stories, just in a different form. Whether it’s a portrait, an event or a wedding, my goal is to capture what’s real and honest.
